Aegis’s status and group

Mixed ownership, state control

Eldorian industrial champions operate under a regime of mixed ownership with majority state control: the State holds at least 51% of the capital and has a veto over exports and asset sales. See Technology.

Ilmar is the exception: as the only wholly private company in the top 10, it illustrates the scope for private enterprise in the consumer digital sector.

The Aegis Group

Aegis Aviation was founded in and supplied the country’s first modern fighter aircraft. In , its military activities were consolidated into a dedicated division, Aegis Dynamique, which has since been responsible for all armaments programmes: combat aircraft, armoured vehicles, air defence, missiles and munitions. The parent company refocused on civil aviation.
