The flag

National flag of Eldoria: 3 vertical bands, violet, white and black, charged with a black sword entwined by a violet serpent

3 bands, 2 figures

3 strictly equal vertical bands: the violet of the imperial flame at the hoist, the white of armed neutrality in the centre, the black of the Khorosan highlands at the fly. In the centre, an upright black sword, military discipline, entwined by a violet serpent, patience and trade: it does not strike, it constricts.

Proportions 3:2. The flag never touches the ground; it is flown at half-mast for the death of a head of state and on days of national mourning.

The 3 flags

Standard of the House of Vinter: white stag's head on a violet band, white fleurs-de-lis on black bands
969 — 1642The standard of the House of VinterAldric Vinter unites the 7 clans under the colours of his house: a violet band charged with the white stag's head, between 2 black bands each bearing a fleur-de-lis. Violet, a rare and costly dye, already speaks of the wealth of a merchant people.
Flag of 1642: white flame on an oblique violet band, black fleurs-de-lis in the white corners
1642 — 1947The flame flagAt the imperial coronation of 1642, the realm takes the name Eldoria — “the land of fire”, from the Old Norse “eldr” — and leaves behind the dynasty's colours: a white flame on a broad diagonal violet band, fleurs-de-lis in the white corners. The stag remains the emblem of the House of Vinter.
National flag, since 1947
Since 1947The flag of the refoundationThe Beirut Accord adopts the 3 bands, violet, white and black, charged with the sword and the serpent: the emblem becomes that of the State, no longer of a family or a crown. It is the last change; in 2018 it flies over every public building.

Emblems and motto

The silver stag

Emblem of the House of Vinter since 969. An animal of the highlands, a symbol of vigilance rather than strength. It left the national flag in 1642 but remains the emblem of the dynasty; it appears on every coin and as a watermark on banknotes.

The flame and the fleur-de-lis

The flame, national emblem from 1642 to 1947, gave the motto its first word. The fleur-de-lis accompanies the first 2 flags; it remains the mark of the archives and of official documents.

The sword and the serpent

Emblem of the State since 1947. It adorns the great seal, affixed to treaties and laws: the sword and the serpent in a circle bearing the motto, on a violet field.

The motto

“By the Flame, by Steel, by Time”

The 3 pillars attributed to Aldric Vinter: trade, military discipline, patience. The order has never changed.

Other attributes

Capital: Aldara, founded in 1487. Official language: Eldorian, since 1947. Currency: the Mark (Ɱ), since 1897.

IV

Anthem

“The High Plateaus”

Adopted in 1947 with the flag of the refoundation. It is sung standing, without applause.
